The introduction of a shilling tariff for tenword telegrams between Victoria and New South Wales bas proved a splendid success, the business having increased fully one third, while the falling off of revenue to the Department has been slight,
Negotiations have been in progress with the New Zealand Telegraph Department to reduce their share of the revenue to 6d per 10 words, in order to admit of the rate between Victoria and that Colony being reduced to 7s, but up to the present time they have refused, although the Victorian Government strongly urge its acceptance.

The Union S.S. Company's Waihora sailed for the Bluff this morning. The same Company's Rotomahana arrived to-day from-the Bluff.

It is announced that New-Zealand will send a representative to Sydney on the return of the New South Wales contingent, in order to convey the congratulations of that Colony to the troopa.
