Report for the week ending Friday, July 25 :— Business in grain and produce, like all other mercantile pursuits, has been for the past week almo.-t totally neglected owing to tho intense interest taken in the general, election, the net result of jwhich has given aimoet universal satisfaction. The farming community now hold a more hopeful tone in regard to the politics of the country, although the chief cause of depression in their line still remains—namely, the continued low prices lu'.Kg in tha Home matket for "wheat; and until there 13 a genuine turn for the better, there can be little hope of relief from any change in Government. With the exception of peaae, the values of produce have tcarcely altered The following are the quotations to d\te :—

Wheat.- Tuscan, 83 4<l; pearl, 3s 3d ; Hunter's, 3a 2d—for[sound camples only; eeconde, 2s 3d to 2s 6d : chick -wheat. Is Od to 2s. *

Oats.—Milling, 2a 3d; bright Bbort feed, 2s 2d; Tartars and Danißh, Is 8d to 2s.

parley.— Bright first-class m3lting, 4s; second qualiiy, 3s Sd to 83 6d; feed, 23 to 2s 2d, Chrißt church.

Pease.—Prussian blues, Ss to 3a 3d; feeding, 2s 6d to2a9d.

Beans.—H»nd»threshed lor seed, 3): ordinary dry.

Ryegrasj Se£d.— Farmers' parcels, 83 to 33 6d ; best machine-dressed, 4s to 4S 3d.

Potatoes.—2Bs to 30s at stations within 12 miles, with a prospect of advancing.

Butter and Choeae.— 7d to BJd for the former, arid 4d to 5d for the latter.

With the exception of barley and potatoes, the above prices are paid to farmers when delivered f.o.b. at Lyttelton.
