GORE RACES.

At Goro races on Wednesday the Hurdle Handicap was won by Mr Pollock's Melbourne, who also secured the Maiden Plate. The Gore Handicap, of 30 soys., was secured by Mr Souness' Uncle Tom (7st 61b), beating Violin (lOst) and two others. Mr H. Jones' Fred wen the trot from scratch ; and Mr Souness then took the Publicans' Handicap, of 35 soys.. with Waternymph (7«t 71b), whoso only opponent was Violin (9st). Mr Pollock won the Ladies' Purse with Miss Griffiths, and Violin secured the Consolation Handicap.

ASHBURTON SUMMER RACES.

At this meeting the principal event was the Counties Handicap, of 40 soys., which was won by Mr M. Hobb's Hinerua (Bat 91b), who beat Lady Florence (9st), Steel Duat (9at lib), and two others.

WAIMATE RACES.

These races were held on Thursday, and the best prize, the Waimato Handicap, of 40 soys., was secured by Mr J. Cotton's Prospero (Bst 91b), beating three others. The Counties Purse, of 25 soys., was won by Mr M. Sherwin's Redcliffe (9st). The Publicans' Handicap, of 40 sqvs., was thbn won by Prospero (Bst 71b), whose only opponent bolted q(! the course.
