The A. and P. Show was a great success. There was fine weather, and tho excellent and spacious grounds were well filled up. The sum of £110 was taken at the gates. The show of horses was moderate. The Stud Company's Just tho Time o' Day was the first draught entire, and Accountant second. Mr Russell's Dundee was first in thoroughbreds, Mr Printz took the lead in shorthorns, Messrs Royse, Stead, and Ayson being second. In Ayrshires honours were divided by Messrs Hay, Grieve, Rankin, M'lhvrick, and Muir. In fat stock, Messrs Organ and Co. were first, and the Hon. M. Holmes second. In merinos, Messrs Johnston, Holmes, and Watt were the principal winners. Of Lincolns there was a poor show; Mr J. I<\ Collins was the main prizetaker. In Loicesters, Messrs Grieve, M'Kercher, and M. Holmes take the prizes ; and in Romney Marsh, Messrs Cargill and Anderson and Hon. M. Holmes. In cheese, Messrs J. Grant and A. Gait lead; and in butter, Mrs Malcolm, Mrs Jamieson, and Mrs Kyfe are the first prize takers. There was a fine show, but small, of hams and small-goods. In implements little new was shown. Reapers and binders were recommended for field trial,, but no awards were given. The Oamaru barbed wire was given an honorary certificate, and Messrs Reid and Gray took many honours. There was a creditable turn-out of locally-made carriages, chiefly by Mr W. H. Mathieson.
