rant, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, with hard labour. Hannah Brown,charged with using obscene language, was fined fiOi, in default three weeks' imprisonment.—r-~ Thomas William: Wallace, who,- while being arrested for drunkenness, damaged theuniforma of Conatableß Miller and Parker, was fined 10s, and ordered to pay tho amount of damage done—£2 2s Od, in default 10 days' imprisonment, with hard labour. ■ . . ' ' An Evading Witsicss.—Richard Chudley, arrested on suspicion of being about to leave tho Colony for the purpose of evading giving evidence in the trial of P. Shanassy, for assault at Christchurch, was remanded to Timaru. (Before Mr J; Logan, J.P.) Forgeky. —Robert Galbraith" was charged with having, on the sth July last, at Oamaru, feloniously uttered forged orders for the payment of Ins and £3 Is 4d, with intent to defraud William Snow and John Randolf Murray respectively.—Evidence was given to the effect that accused. obtained money and goods on 'tho strength oi forged orders purporting to be from Mr Gordon, in whose employ he had been. — Accused was committed iov trial,
