(Received December 12th, ISS2, at 10 a.m.) The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports of the local grain market" as follows:—" Wheat, shipping, per bushel,ss 2d to 5a.5d, with downward tendency; malting barley in firm and active demand at 3s lO.d to 4s 2d ; New Zealand feeding oats, duty paid, 3a lid to 4s 3d ; ditto, in bond, 3a 4d to 3s Bd. Market quiet, anil prices barely maintained. After several days' rainfall the weather is now very fine, and arrivals of grain from tho country are increasing." Sydxey, December 12lh. (Received December 13tb, 1532, at 1.5 a.m.V Telegrams aro to hand to-night from Newcastle reporting that a serious firo has broken
out in the centre of that city. Thß.._eonfiagration has assumed large .dimensions. It waa still raffing at 10 o'clock. Five shops were in flames, .and all efforts to extinguish them had proved. futile, and it,is feared that a large block of buildings, of which they form part, will be consumed. . '. .-■,■■.■■
