SMALLPOX AND THE CHARLES WORSLEY.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sitt,—Seeing an article in your paper to-day headed " Smallpox and the Charles Worslay," I wish to deny one or two statements inudo therein. Now, although I admit that the writer of the article was not the lirat to have the disease, still I should like to comet a few mistakes he has made in his report. We lefc the East Inilia Docks on Wednesday, March 16th last, and proceeded to Gruveucnd, where wo moored to one of the biioya until the following day, end then proceeded on our voyage. - We shipped no cargo at all there, having taken it all in while wo were in dock The first appearance of the disease was after the pilot left us, some distance down Channel, when itbrokeoutonanA.il. named Stanley dale. The next person to take it was Karon himself, who was ill with it nearly the whole of the passage. Soon after he was taken ill he wan attended upon by Gale, who by this tinio had recovered his usual health. When the carpenter took the disease, he alio wr? attended upon by Gale, and not by Bacon, as he ttates-who was lil at the time. When the first man took the disease he was not quarantined, because the captain did not think it was anything dangerous, but when the i ccond man (Beacon) took it, he saw that it was infectious, and thereupon put them into one of the half deck houses, which was turned into a ho-pital. This is all 1 have to say, and hoping you will kindly insert it,-1 am, &c, Samuel K. Chester.
