IMPORTANT SALE OF STOCK.

Mr Edward Men'ove'a first annual clearing sale of pure-bred Clydesdale stock was held by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, & Co. on Thursday, at the homestead, Windsor Park (siys the Oamavu Mail of ,21st March.) A spucial tiaiu was laid on fur tue occasion at ILIS a.m., which was crowded with g-iulemen proceeding to the sale. At the Waiaieka Junction the special waited a few minutes to take up a uu'jibar of gentlemen expected from the South, and then (.rocetddd on its way to Eldenlie- Station, wlieiu it discharged iS frright. A sharp walk of 15 minutes brought the party to Windsor Paik, where they wore met by Me srs Meulove and .Stepheuifon. Mr Mtnloze, with his characteristic hospitality, led tbe way to tho woolshed, where a capital luncbeon was spread out for the guests. The saetl was tastefully decorated with eveiyreens. From Waiuiki County there were the H ns. M. Holmes and H. J. AH'ler, Mewis M'Mastor, Reid (E.deislie), A. H. Maude, Webster, Evans, Pateison, Bromley, and Gemmell (of Kakanui), Walker, Uhryst J, 1> Wait, aid a host of others too numerous to mention. Altogether thtre must have been at least 200 people on the ground. Mitchell for 70 guiueia; Daisy, thiee ye;.rs, brought 49 guineas, Mr Al'lntyre, of Merino Downs, beingthe purchaser; Smiler and Violet brought respectively 44 and 50guinea*; Lu;y, five years, and Jess, wet mares, brought 3G and 40 guinds; Jtsiie, six years, went to Mr H. Mitchell for 57 jiuiue.n; Betsy, four years, to Mr M'Master, for 47 guineas; Lily, six years, to Mr Conlin, of Ngapara Tables, for 60 guineas; Darling, to Mr M'lntyre, for 50 guineas; Flower, three years, to Mr Grig^, at 05 guineas ; Flow, four yein, to Mr Bromley, at 54 guineas ; Black J»s, tj Mr W. L. Mitchell, at 7C guineas. Altogether 4i of thes 3 fine animals were dispused of, at prices varying from 22 to 70 guineas. Of the tour entires offered, only one, the b.iy colt Lord Beaconsh'eld, t.vo years off, met with a market, Mr Grigg^, of Canterbury, becoming the purchaser at 210 guineas. Five two-year-old Clydesdale fillies were next submitted, one of whicu-w-s withdrawn, the remaining four be'ng disposed of at pries ranging from 38 to 45 guiuoas. Twenty oae Clydesdale geldings were sold, the lowest, a bay, being kuc eked down to Mr Stringer f _,r 12 uuinei.s ; the highest by Mr P. tton for GO. These were full-mouthed, and weic knocked down to Mr .lolm Reid, of Elderslie, at L 2 10s each. Lots 94 and 95, consistiiii; of 10 two-tooth pure-bred Lincoln rams, by tha above sires, out of owes by tho above breeders, were sold to Millington Brothers, Papakaio, at L 2 5s each, Mr lieid, of Elderslie, becoming the purchaser of l>ts 97 aud 98, consisting of 10 sheep, atL2 5s each ; but no other bids being obtainable, the jemaining lots were passed in. 1110 storj sheep of three-qu-rter-breed were then disposed of to Mr Grant, of Gran ton, West Taieri. at 7s OJ. 350 nearly pniv-brsd ewes wero withdrawn at 12*. In class 2, 14 pure-bred Lincoln two-to >th rams were sold at the following prices : —First pick of the lo' to Mr Iteid, at L 5 5< ; second pick, Mr Keiel, Lll 11s; third pick, Mr Beid, L 9 9-; fourth pick, Mr 13Tydone, LG Gs.
