SALE OF RUNS.

On Marili 20th at tba Waste Lands Board Office, MrK.B. Martin, Governineutuuct:one*r, offered ths lenses for 10 yfars of :t number of runs by auction. There was an attendance of about 30 g-jntlem.cn, mainly lunholders and stock and .station agents. Kobeit Campbell, at upset, without competition. Run 421, Oliau district, 14,C00 acres ; upset, LIOO. —Hon Robeit Campbell at upset, without competition. Kirn 424, Waiknia, 11,050 acres; upset, Ll2o.—Tim Hiding fir this run advanced from the uppet principally by L 5 bids (LI bids being allowed) ti.l 1.255 was reached, Leiug conducted between Mr Henry Driver (for Mr J. Mackellar) and Mr D. H. Mervyn. Mr Driver stopped at L2OO, and Mr MerTjn having bid L2sr>, and apparently, after a pause, itna"iijii>K that such bid was agairst him, advance 1 t.is offsr to L2GO. Mr Martin knocked the run down at th s price, but Mr Mervyn disputed tin, bid, ai;d would int acknowledge it. Some little d'scins-ion arose, a numbu- of gentlemen testifying that Mr Mervyn's bid was li2GO, and the affair resulted in Mr Murtiu putting the ran up afresh, and refusing to accept Mr Mervyn'* bid " for the run in question," in accordance wilh the option loft in his hands by the t<nns of s<ile. Mr Driver again offered the upset price. Mr Mervyn :" If you will take my bid Iwi 1 give you L 200." Auctioneor : " JS ro, Iwi 1 not take your bid fir this run." It was then km eked down lo Mr Driver, for Mr John Mackellar, at Ll2O, the upset. Kun 424 a, Waikaia, 6150 acres ; upset, LOO. —Henry Diiver, for Joseph Cl.irke, LlO2. Mr Mnrvyn was the opposing bidder. Kun 425b, Waikaia, 16,800 acres ; upset, Lloo.—Henry Driver, for Joseph Clarke, L 205. Mr Mervyn was the opposing bidder. In regard to both the last mentioned runs, Mr Driver objected to the bid of Mr Mervyn being taken, alleging that he whs a defaulter, with whom the auctioneer might deal according to the condition which stated "itwil be optional with the auctioneer to refu-e to accept the bid of such defaulter for the nm in question." He s>id it was very h.iid that a bonafide bidder should be at t-ie mercy of one who came, on purpose to run up the bidilipg, and who, when a lot was knocked down to him at a big price, re fused to take it.—Mr Mervyn challenged Mr Driver to allow one of the luts to be knocked down to him.—Mr Mar, in decidtd that he had no power to refuso Hr Mervyu'a bid, except for the run over which the dispute had arisen.
