Wakapbaka, March 21st, 2 a.m. London, February 14th. - A terrible gloom was cast over the country by the Zulu disaster. Consternation prevails at the heavy loss, and there is Btern determination.to redeem the honour of British arms, and inflict a signal and lasting lesson. Troops have been ordered from Mauritius. The .Premier in the House of Lords on the night of opening Parliament, said the progress of the Berlin Treaty was highly gratifying; He defended the Sultan against an attack, and eulogised Sir A. Layard. Referring "to th* Afghan question, he declared India henceforth invulnerable. ■•■'-*
Sir Stafford Northcote in the House of Commons alluded to the difficulty consequent on. the disappearance of the Amear. He maintained that India was able to bear the actual expenditure of the war.
