The polling for the election of a member to represent the constituency of Mataura in the General Assembly, in place of the Hon. W. "Wood, who was recently elevated to the Legislature Council, took place to-day, the candidates being Messrs Andrew Kinross and James S. Shanks. The result of the polliug waa aa follows:— SHARKS. Tho Waste Lands Board, at its m»ettng yesterday, took Into consideration tbo manner of dealing with a number of runs, tho leases of which exp:re in March, 1880, in terms of section 114, Lands Act, 1877.
