' The Hinemoa leaves Dunedin with tbe prize firing representatives on February 12th, Lyttelton on the 14th, Wellington on the loth, Picton and Nelson on the 17th, and will arrive at Hokitika on the 18th, in time for the firing, which will commence on tbe 19th. ' Bennett introduced the cricketers to Auckland. The .band sang as original song, " Welcome home to New Zealand," with a spirited chorus. Christchurch, January 27tE, • " , At the Wesleyan Conference yesterday, evening a correction was made to the effect that the increase of Church members during the year was 111—not three, as previously' stated. It, was reported that erections, additions, and other improvements had been made during the year at a total cost.of £8098. Permission was given to.various circuits to expend during the present year £9191 in; new erections and improvements on property, with a proposed debt of £3265, of which £600 is provided for by the rent of the leased land. It was reported that one .parsonage and eleven churches had been erected during the year, and one parsonage had been purchased. The total number of churches owned by the Conference is now 155, with 36 parsonages. Seven church sites have been acquired during the year, of which five have been purchased and-, two" given to the Conference. The total cost of all1 the properties amounts to £92,818,. on which debts remain to the amount of £15,290. A proposal mooted here as to the necessity for the formation of a Licensed Victuallers' Mutual Insurance Company is likely to assume larger dimensions and result in another General Insurance Company being started. At present it is almost impossible to get a risk taken here in the business part of the city, the answer of the present companies always being that their books are full upon the black. This presses very heavily on those who erect new buildings. The rates of premium charged here are also very high. A meeting of preliminary character was held last night, aud a provisional committee ap- ■ pointed to draft a prospectus. ■ The idea meets with general favour, and ta in good hands. Oamaru, January 27th. The missing man, Ferguson, was found last night near Kakanui, having fallen off the waggon and wandered off in the wrong direction.
