The following is the order paper for Tuesday next: — By Mr Grant: That, in the opinion of this Council, it is desirable that the Water Supply Committee be instructed to call a meeting of all riparian owners of the Water of Leith at an early date, with the view jf ascbrtaining fiom each of them what sum of money will satisfy each of them for extinguising their rights to the said stream, and Rtate individually the sum in writing to the Council as soon as possible, after having the conference with the said'riparian owners. By Mr Grant: That Duke street, between George and Great King streets, be kerbed and channelled on both sides at once. By Mr Thomson: That a large drain pipe be laid from the new sewer at the Normal Scheol up to Stuart street. By Mr Isaac: That every driver of a licensed passenger vehicle shall carry a printed copy of the bye-laws relating to such vehicles, showing, in clear and distinct, form, the fares per hour and per mile; and failing to comply in showing it to any passenger when demanded, the license ef such driver may be cancelled. By Mr Isaac: That this Council considers the reducing of the Police Force to the standard of the Armed Constabulary is against the interest of the peace and wolfare of the city, and, therefore; petitions the Government to reconsider the matter, so that the force may remain on its present footing. By Mr Woodland: That a brick, sewer be laid under George street, between Frederick and St. Andrew streets, the same to connect with the St. Andrew street sewer. By Mr Woodland: That all footpaths throughout the oity (where kerbed and channelled) be asphalted the usual width as soon as practicable.
