Sydney, January 19tii.
In consequence of the departure of the Ringarooma for New Zealand, there is only one day's later news. The Secretaiy of tbe Philadelphia Commission leaves on Friday by the City of San Francisco for Philadelphia. The drought continues, and much, distress is anticipated. Maize and flour are rising.
Melbourne, January 12th,
Elizabeth Bews, a married woman, committed suicide by cutting her throat at Hotham. She was of unsound mind.
Captain Fernandez his returned from the Straits, bringing a portion of the wreck of the Essie Black found on Deal Island. He searched for the crew without success. All perished.
Brisbane, January 12fch,
There was a fearful gale at Gympie. The local Court House and the Varieties Theatre were levelled to the ground. Several other buildings were damaged.
