The Post has been enlarged to the same sized sheet as the New Zealand Times, this being the fourth time it has been increased in size since its establishment ten years ago. A produce teleg'am of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile vgency Co., Limited, dated London, 18th June, states:—The wool sales comprise about 27,200 bales, and 6000 bales have been withdrawn, 13,500 taken for the Continent. Sales closed with an average improvement of Id to ljd on laat sales. The principal advance being on crosabreds aud superior washed, combing, medium, and inferior greasy. The market is rather easier.

The Customs revenue for. Wellington during June, 1875, was £9917. The returns last quarter were £35,045. Total Customs revenue of the port for the financial year, £137,704.

The following cablegram has been received by the Sydney Government, and has been forwarded per Hero to the New Zealaed Government ; — London, June 15.—Mail contract signed by contractors, the American Pacific Company, and John Elder, of Glasgow, and Macgregor, of Leith, jointly aiid severally. The service to be under the printed conditions sent you. The term, eight years; each Colony paying half. Speed, eleven knots; subsidy, £89,950. Service begins in November next from Sydney and Port Chalmers, and continues thence every four weeks'. The boats from 'Frisco saU through from Port Chalmers, and the boats from 'Frisco through to Sydney, connecting at Fiji. Toe boat from Sydney'to Fiji meets the boat from 'Frisco, and carries the mails to New Zealand ports—this boat being the next through boat from Port Chalmers to 'Frisco, returning thence to Sydney, and so on. Elder supplies two new ships, - the American Company three new ships, all upwards of 2SOO tons, iron, and screws of great power. There is no doubt of the ability of the contractors. Contract forwarded by out going mails requires confirmation at the present session of Parliament. Send Hew Zealand Government a copy of the printed conditionbond and the contract, and this telegram. The Cable agreement signed by'-Vogel and Covvper awaits the seal of the Colony to complete. —Cowper—Russell.

Auckland, July 2nd. Liva, the late' mate of the Albion whaler, fell overboard from the cutter Bob Roy, and was drowned.

A telegram from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, dated London, June 20th, states—stock of tallow, all sorts, 17,000 casks; mutton' worth £43 per ton; beef, £41. Adelaide wheat, 4s 7d; New Zealand hemp. £26 a ton. The public sales comprised 500 bales.

Grahamstown, July 2nd. The number of deatbs in the Thames district for June, was 10; for the previous month, 39. Births during June, 41. The figures for the quarter ending June 30th a, c, births, 113 j. deaths, 102; marriages, 14.

Patea, July 2nd. A most disgraceful scene occurred in court yesterday. At the conclusion of a case the plaintiff accused Major Turner, R.M., with; prejudging the case. The Magistrate did not commit the offender for contempt of Court, but hastily left the Bench amidst the greatest uproar and confusion.

Picton, July 2nd.

The Supreme Court sittting closed to-day. Michael Higgins, for attempted escape from gaol, was sentenced to four yeara'imprisonment. Borlezraan v. Redwood, a civil case, claim £3,000 damages, for non-improvement of land. A verdict was given for £142.;

Christchurgh, July 2nd. ..- The following entries for the Christchurch Steeplechase wern received last night:—For tho Christchurch Handicap Steeplechase of 100 soys. : Hedge's Ivanhoe, Markey's Mousetrap, James Campbell's Speculation, Craddock's Muscatel, Brittan's Royalty, Ray's Medora, P. Campbell's Tommy Dodd, D. O'Brien's Kapai (aged). For the Linwood Stakes Handicap of 60 soys., a distance of about two milts : Markey's Mousetrap, Lunn's Alice Grt-y, Beeeher's Brown Stout, James Campbell's Speculation, Craddock's Muscatel, Brittan's Koyalty, Kay's Medora, Campbell's Tommy Dodd, and O'Brien's Pakeha.

Mr A. C. Knight, formerly a member of the Board of Education, is gazetted Minister of Education.

A deputation from the Board of Governors of the Canterbury College waited on the Governor yesterday, respecting the erection of additions to the Museum, which the Governor, acting on the advice or the new Provincial Solicitor, intends to allow the contractors to prooeed with. The additions will coat £14,000.

Hudson, larceny ; and John Armfield, breach of the Pawnbrokers Act (two cases).

Tiharu, July 2nd.

The Cezarewitch, barque, from Melbourne, has arrived, with material for the Parkora Bridge. The gale'on Wednesday caused no damage to the shipping, but swamped a surf-boat, with 100 bags of wheat on board. The ketch Forest Queen, and the schooner Cleopaua, cut to sea. The othur craft rode out the gale.

The Customs revenue for the pott Tiimru, for June quarter, is f6329; for correloading quarter of 1874, £5750.
