A Wellington, June 25fch Another p).ase of the toll-gate question has been settled by a deci,ion of the Ohief Justice A coach proprietor appealed against the decision of the Resident Magistrate. His Honour decided against Youojt upon all the points raised, holding that the General Toll-gates Act did apply to Kaiwara toll-gate ; that a specific demand was not necessary to the creation .of a debt; tha; the debt was created by passing through the toll-gate; and that an action would lie for debt so created. The appeal was dismissed with costs. Auckland, June 2Sth. Pears are entertained for the safety of the schooner Pacific, which left Tiinaru for the Alauukau on tne 3rd instant, the day previous to the destructive gale. She has not siuce been heard of.
