THE HOSPITAL.
TO THE EDITOR. Snt—l beg to call attention, through the medium of your columns, to a painful case which occurred this day. A young girl—a new arrival in the Colony, was, on .Monday, t-iken to the .Hospital for admission to the lying-in ward. On application to the doctor in charge, the person who accompanied her was informed in as short a manner as possible that it was the wroii" place to bring the girl; and upon informing the doctor that she had no home or friends in the Colony, and asking lus advice as to which was the proper place to take her, was curtly told that '• he would not have her there, so she could get a c-,ib and take her away." A cab was immediately procureJ and the girl driven a. mile and a half in great pain. After removal from the cab the child was born. I wish to ask, Sir, whether such is the custom at the Duuediu Hospital ? I have no doubt it will be stated that notice should be given before a patient can be admitted, but surely under the above circumstances, and with ocular demonstration of the girl's condition, information might have been (riven and assistance rendered. Enclosed is my card.—l am, &c, A Hcjea*** Bei.no.
