BLUESKIN AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SHOW.

THE DINNER,

The time for the annual dinner had been appointed for six o'clock, but about twelve hacks wt;ra jumping for first honours until about 6.30, and consequently the customary festival was nob commenced until seven o'clock. The dinner took place at Mr Colehan's Waitati-Hotel, and was served up in first-class style. The tables were also beautifully decorated with flowers. The President of tha Btueskin Agricultural Society occupied the chair, aud the vice-chair was ably filled by the Vice-President. About forty geotleinen were present. The customary loyal toasts having been received with musical honours, the Chairmax proposed—"The Arnry, Navy, and Volunteers," coupled with the name of Mr Pram.

Mr Pbaut, in a humorous speech, briefly returned thanks.

The Chairman proposed—"His Honour She Superintendent and the Provincial Council, coupled with the name of Mr Green." %Mr Green', in. responding, referred to the lengthened period he had represented the district of Blueskin in the Provincial Council. He fuily believed that his Honour the Superintendent had the interests of the Province at heart.

The Chairman proposed—" The Judges," and said that the Committee of the Blueskin Pastoral Association weie much indebted to the judges for their presence. It was a very easy matter to appotut judges, but they did not, perhaps, think of the inconvenience those gentlemen were frequently submitted to. He trusted that they had given satisfaction that day. Though the weather was unpropitious, they had not absented themselves, lie coupled the toast with the names of Messrs Macgregor and Todd. Mr Tox>D believed that he officiated as judge at the first exhibition held at Blueskin, when the entries were numerous. By persevering ■with these shows, they would make those of Blueskin the most successful in the Province. They could not have a public dinner at Palmerston, but they had an annual one at Blueskin. From the Press he learned that luncheons in several other districts could not compare with those of Blueskin. —(Laughter.) Mr Macocegor also replied, and said that the judges had been most unanimous in making their awards that day without partiality. He believed that the stock exhibited might with credit to the district be shown iv any other ring 3in the Colony.

The CuAiR?,rAN proposed " The health of the successful competitors, coupled with the name of Mr Ferguson."

Mr Ferguson briefly responded, and thought that the names of Messrs Duncan and Parkes should have been added to the toast.

Amongst the other toasts duly honoured •were "The Unsuccessful Competitors." "The Ladies," " The Press," and " The Host and Hostes3."
