The following curimis paragraph is from the Fiji Times :—" Scurrility and abuse seem to bo the mode by which some mv fortunates are doomed to show to. the world how low birth, quasi education,'convict associations, and want of recognition amongst gentlemen, ©spend their venom. The cuttle fish emits an inky substance. It would fain look clear, but, when pressed, is bound to seek refuge in blackness. We understand that a liberated convict from Tasmania will shortly arrive to give lectures and advice upon matters journalistic." In the new Freshman class of the great Michigan University at Ann Arbor, which v nearly as large as the claw at Harvard College, there a,ye some thirty young laclies, and the number of ladies iv all the departments of the University will be considerably beyond-a hundred. There are seven in the law school, and more than 40 in. the medical I school.
