The Adelaide cricketer/1, being desirous of securing the services of a good " couch," wrote to England to Mr James Lillywhite oa the subject. The reply, written on October 29th, -will interest cricketers here : — "Of course it is out of the question to think of having a professional from litre for this season, but I have no doubt it could be managed for the next. -The thing is, what do you think would ):e fair terni3 for a good man? I don'b think you would got such a man as you would like under ;P,250 or £300 a year, and an engagement for, say. five years, also passage out. Cricket in .England* is in great force, and good man eau earn from £12 to £20 per week, which they would not earo to leave unless they were guaranteed an engagement for at least five years. If you entertain this idea, and the expense is not too great, [ have no doubt I can get you a inaa good at all point 3of the game. 1 hope the time may not be far distant when the cricketers of Adelaide can lick the cocky Melbournites." The writer mentions the death, on the 27th October, of his cousin the famous old cricketer, John Lillywhite. '
