The Harbour Company's steamer Samson arrived from Oamaru yesterday afternoon, and without easing steam passed on to Dunedin. She leaves again tomorrow morning. . The steamer Maori made a start for Lyttelton on Tuesday night, but reached no.further thaa the sandbank at the head of the Cross-channel. The night was intensely dark, and misty to boot. She got clear yesterday morning, and proceeded on her way North. Discharging the Harbour Company's new steamer Bruce has been concluded, and we are glad to say that her cargo turned out well. She will be towed down to the Port to-day, and taken into the Floating Dock to have her bottom cleaned and coated, and to be made ready to commence running on the coast. The brig Pakeha finished discharging her cargo of timber last evening. . The brigantine Circe is loaded and ready for sea and will, wind and weather permitting, take her departure for Hokitika to-day.

The schooner Elderslie has landed about three parts of her cargo. .

The schooner James Paxton finished discharging- yesterday. She is on the berth for the Bluff and Kiverton, and is advertised to sail to-day. That handsome.little schooner, the Julius Vo"el put out the remainder of her cargo yesterday. ° The married people and single men immigrants by the ship Corona were landed yesterday forenoon by the steamer Peninsula, and forwarded to town by the 11 30 train.

The ship Cartslmm took her departure on the early morning tide of yesterday. She was towed out by the Geelong, and is bound either to San Francisco or Calcutta. She cleared for Guam.

Having been relieved of her living freight, the ship Corona was towed up the harbour yesterday, and berthed for discharging at the Kailway Pier. The little cutter ltosa, owned by Maoris, came up to the Port yesterday from the Kaik, where she arrived on Saturday last from Catlin's River, with a canro of •mutton birds. b

Messrs .Houghton and Co.'s steamers Wanganui and Wallabi took their departure yesterday—the Wanganui in the afternoon for the Bluff, and the Wallabi in the evening for the Bluff and Kiverton. Both transhipped immigrants from the ship Otago. Between 40 anc 50 left in the two vessels.

The schooner Jtfaid of Otago sailed for Moeraki yesterday morning. The New Zealand S.S. Co.'s steamer Phoebe left us again yesterday on her return to the Northern Provinces. She took away 14 passengers and 85 tons of cargo.

The Wellington is the next of the New Zealand Co.'s steamers to arrive here, and may be looked for tomorrow. She was loading grain at Tiniaru yesterday.
