Wellington, September 2nd. :Atjckxahb,.September 2nd. ; Attempts were made yesterday to serve a detainer on. the ship Miltiades, in Rarigitoto channel, while, going, but. The detainer was issued from the Admiralty Court, Tat" the suit of the crew of the Ladyßoweri, for salvage. The crew of the Miitiades threatened violence to the officer of Court if he attempted to board the vessel. The men therefore tied the writ to the cable and retreated. The ship sailed during the night. The difference at issue was settled this morning by the owners of the Lady Bowen offering the crew £500 out of the £1625 awarded, which was accepted.

The City of Auckland arrived from London after a passage of 107 days. She brings thirty passengers, but no immigrants. One child died. She experienced terrific weather during the latter part of the passage for four days, and had every sail that was set blown out of the ship. Mr Saunders reports sales of South British Insurance at £2 13s 6d; Albion, £3; Caledonian, £9 ss. Buyers of National Bank, £3 8s; City of London, £1 7s ; Cure, 10s 6d.
