The N.Z.S.S. Co.'s favourite steamer Phoeb's arrived in harbour from the North at 11.30 a.m. yesterday, and berthed alongside the Railway Pier just in time to be too late for her passengers to catch the train. They, however, came up by the 1.30 p.m. train. This trip of the Phoebe to our Port is understood to be the last, at least for some time, as her Company has elected her to run regularly from the Manukau to Sydney tri-monthly, starting from the Manukau on arrival of the Company's southern steamer, thus keeping up a regular New South Wales trade between Sydney and the Provinces of New Zealand, which cannot buc otherwise prove a boon to our commercial interests. The Phoebe on this voyage left the Manukau at 9 a.m., on the 19th inst., for" Wellington direct; arriving there at 4 p.m. on the 20th; having had to contend against strong head winds; sailed again at 11 a.m. on the 21st, reached Lyttelton at 3.4.0 a.m. on the 22nd, left again at 1.30 p.m. We thank Mr Monk, her purser, for prompt delivery of files and despatch. She sails again on Friday for the North and Sydney. The s.s. Taranaki sailed for the North it 5 p.m. yesterday. The brig Wave, which put in here through stress of weather, sailed for Oamaru yesterday forenoon, to load cargo for Auckland. The brig Thomas aud Henry, from Newcastle, passed the Bluff early yesterday morning for this port. She would 'probably, with the prevailing southerly wind, reach the Heads last evening.

The- schooners Tauranga, for Titnaru, and Pioneer, for Shag Point, sailed down from Dunedin yesterday, aud anchored at the Port for the night.

The ship Allahabad commenced taking in ballast yesterday. On her leaving this port she proceeds to Sydney, where she will probably load for London. She is a fine powerful ship of large carrying capacity, a good sea boat, and while in harbour has been kept iv fine order. The same may be soidof her opposite sister at the Railway Pier, the composite ship St Kilda, a handsome pretty model. The s.s. Phoebe passed a brig yesterday forenoon running to the northward. She is supposed to be the Chanticleer, from Hobart Town, bound for Lyttelton.
