THE COFFEES prepared by Barron, Grant, and Co. are, and always have been, free from every kind of adulteration except the usual admixture of Chicory. This fact alone would enable the_ firm confidently to challenge a comparison with other local preparations of the article, but their Coffees have the additional advantages of being the choicest and highest priced kinds imported from Britain, and of being carefully roasted by hand.

A traveller, returning to Auckland after a tour round the Colony, says :—" One is impressed with the idea that it is the most beautiful and the dirtiest town in the Colony; that its natural advantages for the expansion of trade are superior to any other town in New Zealand, if we except Wellington; and that its merchants are the most apathetic, and have allowed nearly all the Southern trade to drift into other hands ; in short, that something like a spell hangs over us, throwing a veil of apathy over all our undertakings, whether of a sanitary, a political, or a commercial character. The theory of climatic influence having something to" do with. i this provincial apathy is often expressed, and | probably not without reason."
