A rifle match canto oft* ou Saturday last, at the East Taiori Butts, lfc was the result of a challenge from 10 members o£ that Company, to the 10 of the same Couipany who competed lately with the Oamaru Rangers, <m which occasion they were defeated by 31 pointn. As several of the best shots in the Company were unablo to proceed to Oamarii to take paurfc in the match there, they wero ambitious of trying their strength against those who went up to Oamaru, as they believed tk second L0 t almost as strong as the first, could bo picked from tho Comi>any. Although the second 10 wero beaten, theresult of the firing proved that they were not far wrong in their estimate of the strength of the respective teams. We believe Captain Andrew is open to uhoofc a match, with 20 muu selected from hi« Company, against 20 picked from, any other Company iv the Prorlnce.
