Mr Allen, Collector of Customs at Picton, telegraphs that none cf the crew or passengers have arrived there. Captain Wheeler, of the Taranaki, says the City has gone to pieces. Not a plank was left.

The following particulars have been telegraphed from Nelson :— The Tanwiaki met the schooner Canterbury in Charlotte's Sound <n FridayShe had got on board the master aud Mr James Fox from the wreck of the City of Newcastle.

The City was wrecked early on Thursday morning near Tory Channel, not far from the Three Brothers. She went ashore bows on to the high precipitous cliff's.

One of the «eamen, an old sailor, who knew the locality, 'hoped to land before the g le rose, which it did about an hour after leaving the ship. They might;make Tory Channel. There were no provisions <ir water on board the gig. The Tarauaki changed her course, and took tho master and Fox to a whaling station in the Sound The steamer went near the spot. She did not see the wreck, but passed a ship's rudder, and portion of the aternpost of the City. The City of Newcastle.met bad weathey on Sunday.
