A sale of Government land situate in the Akatore and Hillend districts was held by Mr Capstick, at Tokomairiro, on the 24th inst. As to the sections in the Akatore district, three in block IX., namely sections 12, 13, and 14, and containing in the aggregate 318 acres, were sold to Mr Fred. Wayne, farmer, Akatore, at the upset price of 10s per acre. As to the land offered in block VI., sections 34, 8, 10, 11, 13, 20, 21, 22, 2 of 26, 1 of 12, 2 of 12, 27, and block 1., section 22, containing in all about 1045 acres, were purchased by Messrs John and William Noble, settlers, Akatore, at 10s per acre, the upset price. Section 35, block VI., and containing 76 acres, was purchased by Mr Neil M'Gilp, settler, Akatore, at 13s per acre. (Section 24, block VII., and amounting to 98 acres, was bought by Mr Walter Cockburn at 103 an acre. In the Hillend district, section 2 of 25, block 111., 44 acres, and section 2 of 26, same block, 43 acres, went to Mr William M'Kerrow at the same rate. The total amount realised by the sale was £824 5s 6d.
