UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.
to the editor,
Sm—l observe in the Gazette, that tfieUniversity Session is to open with an introductory lecture ; but is it not a great pity that the time fixed for it should be in the, evening; which virtually confines the audience to those who live in the town ? It is to be presumed that the lecture will be a, popular one, and that it is in the interest o£~ the public rather than the lecturer that tMs time has been chosen. But surely thet inhabitants of Dunedin would willingly turn out once a year during the day to hear the inaugural lecture of the session, and thus give those interested in the University, who live in the country and in the suburbs, ant opportunity of enjoying an intellectual treaty which otherwise they cannot do, except at great inconvenience.
May I beg the favourable consideration ©ft this matter?—l am, &c,
The Country, 18th April. P.S.—Wednesday (not Thursday, as advertised) is the lst of May.
