Wellington", April 19th. At the meeting of the New ZealandUniversity Council to-day, the Wellington Grammar School was affiliated with the University. Mr Gibbes Walker Jordan was admitted ad mivdem. to the degree 'of Bachelor of Arts. The following resolutions were passed :—

" That the £1500 appropriated in aid of affiliated institutions, but not yet apportioned, ought to be used in such a manner as not to preclude institutions hereafter affiliated from sharing in that advantage, but that institutions receiving assistance from the above fund should not be deprived of the same without good cause."

" That the sum of £300 be allotted annually to each of the several institutions now affiliated, for the promotion of the objects indicated m their several applications to the University ; such sums to be paid on the Chancellor being satisfied that lectures are being given as x^roposed by those institutions, and that effective and additional means of instruction are being afforded thereby."

" That the sum of £300 be reserved for any institution that may be affiliated in Dunedin."

AucKLANn, April 19th. The Luna is at GrahamstoAvn, and the Governor and Superintendent are coming overland from Tauranga to meet her. Timaru, April 19th. The grain market is dull. Wheat is at 3s 9d, and oats are at Is 7d to Is Bd.

Bluff, April 19th. The Omeo sailed for Melbourne to-day -with 26,000 feet of timber, for which there is a good demand in Melbourne. One mill has arranged to ship 30,000 feet monthly by steamer.

There are 4000 cases of preserved meat on the wharf, awaiting shipment to England wa Port Chalmers.

Bluff, April 19th. The Gothenburg arrived at eight o'clock this morning. She left Melbourne on the 13th. She leaves for Dunedin this evening.
