Gothenburg arrived in harbour from Melbourne at 6.20 a.m. yesterday, under the command of Captain Clark. She has been for some months past engaged in _ the, Melbourne and Adelaide trade, but has now resumed her old route to New Zealand ports. The hot weather in the. Adelaide trade has tried her officers, some of them appearing to be reduced by at least a stone. She sailed from Hobsori's Bay at 2.30 p.m. on the, 29th," and ' cleared the Heads at 6.30 p.m. : light winds from the southward were experienced for the first three days; strong N. E. and easterly winds then set in. Passed the Solauder at 8 a.m. on the 6th inst.. and reached the Bluff at 3 p.m.: left at 3.30 p.m. on the following day, arriving as above, having had fine weather on the Coast, Mr Hart, her Purser, courteously handed us our regular files on arrival. She sails to-day for Lyttelton and Wellington, returning to Otago and proceeding back to Melbourne via the Bluff.

The s.s. Stormbird returned from Invercargill and the Bluff yesterday forenoon, waited for tide, and came on to Dunedin. She had fine weather on the passage. Mr Bosher, her steward, kindly handed us files on arrival. We believe that another steamer of more power is shortly expected from Australia to work in conjunction wit)> the Stormbird in the Southern trade.

The b.s. Rangatira, from Napier and intermediate ports, arrived at 1 p.m. yesterday ; stayed a short time at the Port, and came on to town on the flood. The steamer left Napier at noon on the Ist inst., and encountered very heavy weather to her arrival at Wellington at 11.30 a.m. on the 3rd ;' left there on the sth at 0.30 p.m., and reached Lyttelton at noon on the (sth; sailed on the 7th at 1.30 p.m., and had moderate ana fine weather to arrival.

The cutter Advance, from Waikouaiti, arrived yesterday afternoon, with cargo. The s.s. Rangitoto sailed yesterday afternoon for Melbourne, via the Bluff.
