\ ~;..; TO THE EBITOB. r Sir—l should be very sorry to deprive Mr ■ Charles Fellows of the very mournful satis- ; faction he appears to enjoy from his fancied ' discovery that -the Athenaeum is- inevitably | doomed to "endinrcinous disaster," still it ia | but right to remind him that^ at least^^pneof his ;delightfully "gloomy,prognostications".has" i not been realised. 1 refer to the very great1 i loss of members that was most certainly to |be one r'of the results of removal.of the |" centrally situated" Institute from the j magic corner of Manse and High streets. I well I remember this was one of the great bugbears jraised, that the members would never consent jto go to " North Dunedin," or as some put it :to the Wa fer of Leith, meaning thereby, the ! Octagon ; and. consequently the Institute will end- in ruinous disaster, on i account of falling off of members. It will Ino doubt be a very bitter pill to Mr Fellows ;to discover, instead of there being a falling ;ofF,' that there has beena. very large increase Indeed, even during the few months since ithe opening.
