TO THE EDITOR.

Sir—A great act of injustice was done to Mr Green in the Governments of the past, in not settling Mr Green's claims. A great act of in justice was done to the to the settled districts of the province by the lasb Assembly, in awarding, that Mr Green's land award should be confined to existing , Hundreds. Let me -continue the history of this case, which will show the sum of Donald Reid's offence:—A discovery of gold was made in the Table Hill district, which district was open for sale.' An application, by Mr Gep. Coombes and a number of miners was made, through Mr Gillies, one of the Executive, to Mr Reid, to have the land withdrawn from sale., Mr Reid, I believe, did not take the mere statement of his colleague for granted, but took the constitutional course of "obtaining the opinion of the goldfields officers of the district, which confirmed the opinion that it should not be sold. In the meantime Mr Green applied for the block, regarding which it had already been applied for (in the interests of the public, and especially in the interests of the miners, to be reserved, and Mr Donald Reid and his colleagues have no doubt offended Mr Green and his friends by refusing his application. I am a shareholders in one of the claims on the ground referred to, and at present in Dunedin.—l am, &c. Stockwhip.
