The River Patea is about thirty-five milea. north-west of Wanganui. It is accessible to. coasting craft and small steamers, and navigable— for vessels drawing six feet, for fifteen or twentjtmiles. It is likely to become the place of trade of the Ngatiruanui country, one of the finesfe agricultural districts in the Colony; and, although no land has yet been sold, the Township already contains a considerable population. Plans may be inspected at the Office of tha Secretary for Crown Lands, Wellington, ancl at the Offices of the Commissioners of Crowa.
