The total amount of Customs Revenue received to-day on goods cleared for consumption waa as follows, viz. :—

£ s. d,

The early part of the week was marked by the quietness usually prevailing prior to the despatch of the home mails. Altogether thero has been an average business done through the week, the transactions of any importance occurring towards its close. Tho grain and flour market has sot materially altered in quotations, but possesses no firmness, and, except in oato, the transactions going forward have only represented current local want*. Town-made flour it quoted at LI 3; a parcel of any bum could probab y be obtained at a lower figure. For wheat delivered in town 4s 3d to 4s Gd for fine samples is obtainable ; at present, supplies are coming forward rather freely. Barley is quoted at the same, or a rather better figure. Oats command from 2s Gd to 2s lOd, according to age and quality ; considerable sales have occurred within this range of prices. Cornsacks have been in full demand, 14s 9d to 15s being obtained for trade lots. Holders of sugar* experience a good demand, at well maintained rates. Tea* havo not been neglected ; the quittance* for up-country and coastwise requirement* being rather heavier. Amongst liquids wo have to report little doing in spirits; the values of brandies and whiskies are en a par with our last reported sales; viz., for Hennessy'a in bulk, 8s ; ditto in case, 28s ; Martell's in c&so standing at,27s 6d ; and for Campbelltown and the other first brands of whisky, 5a ; at these rates trade sales occur. In beers, both in bulk and in glass, a better trade has been witnessed. The first shipment of new brew ale* arriving havo sold at very full prices, the brands being those best liked in this market, viz, Bass's and M'Even's.. For ales in glass, in good condition, there is a maintained enquiry; and for stout* in glass well maintained value* have attended transaction* for parcel* to hand and to arrive. Better sales of building material* have taken plaoe. Galvanised iroa show* a little disposition to improve in value, as witnessed In several parcel* recently placed. Timber also is less depressed, but there ore no heavy operation* now moving. Provision* of all kind* are in fall supply and slack demand. There have been quittances of Sin* cloir1* and Coey'* goods (largest proportion hams) at 12* OJd, of Canterbury cheese at 7d, and for an uncertain lot a lower figure. Good butter i* worth I* to Is Id, but not in much enquiry. Kerosene and candles are without attention. Oilman* stores are still much overstocked. Malt ho* b*en placed at rather lower rate*, and parcel* of salt quitted at something lea* than our last-named rate. There ho* been an unusual quietness in the auction marts ; and of the business done in this channel, nothing of interest can bo noted.
