SCHOOLMASTERS' LIBRARY.

To the Editor of Uie Otaoo Daily Times.

Sir—Tho session before last, our Provincial Council granted some seventy-five pounds, for the purpose of .forming tho nucleus of a Schoolmasters' Library, thus in a measure compensating fo* tho want of a training seminary for our young teachers. The bonus being supplemented by eehoolmasters' subscriptions, was invested in books of a first-class character, which have duly arrived, and await distribution. Stran-je to s.sy, however, our Superintendent and Provincial Executive have neglected to provide suitable accommodation for tho library, and hence the grant is almost useless. This is not as it should be, and I hope tho oft-repeated promises of a suitable room will be performed, and another step taken by Otago in diffusing that educational knowledge for which it is now celebrated.—l am, &c Education.
