THE BISHOPRIC.
{To the Editor of the' Otago Daily Times)
Sir—The explanation given by Mr R. B. Martin, in your issue of this date, makes it incumbent on me to withdraw (as I now do) the expression'" intrusive officiousness,'' as used in my letter inserted in your issue of yesterday. At the same time, I may be permitted to remark that my error in regarding Mr Martin as having volunteered his interposition was a conclusion fully warranted by the tenor of the Lake Wcikatip Mail ;report, taken in (its'proper) connection with the fact that, at the late meeting of the Rural Deanery Board, Mr Martin offensively took me to task for not having tamely submitted to the amcourteous dictation of the Queenstown Committee. —I am, &c. ! i ■•■■ ■•- Jambs Smith. :. 28th August, 1838: . : ?
