We can report no. accession of briskness :t6" business; indeed for the n^xt few days it is not probable that transactions will much exceed just the current requirements of theturie. Country trade, however, continues to prove; and no doubt, if the weather holds up for the. next two or three weeks, the oppoftunity of getting spring supplies-forwarded will be taken advantage of. : Markets are generally sustained; but the dull inquiry now fejt operates unfavorably with respect to one or two staple commodities, holders of which seek to realise. Breadstuffs, as previously noticed, show scarcely maintained rates, which, considering the, scanty amount of Provincial supplies, is only to be accounted for by the existence of anttnpre-* cedentedly dull demand. Sales at LlB to LlB 10s are reported for flourY town brands. Amongst the miscellaneous sales of the day ; have been good Colonial butter at lid, and cheese at 7^d ; Campbelltown whisky at 5s 6d j Colman's first quality mustard, l©£d; Morton's pickles, 11s 6d; and Hennessy's brandy^ in case, at 30s j,. currants nat equal to 4d. The cargo of hardwood, ex Swordfish, is reported as placed at 17s round. About 130 packages congous Bokl for shipment, are also noted, and for town and country/trade, further sales'at very full rates have taken place. At Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, arid Cos. rooms, some considerable parcels of general merchandise were officrctl-~-d:ur" Bo£b- goods^ fair prices were obtained, but few of the groceries or other goods, elicited offers, equal to the limits.
