John Hetherington, storekeeper, was burned to death in the house of one White." It ia added in the telegram, that Mr Broad and Constable M'Gann left Qaeenstown, for the Cardrona, on Wednesday morning.

At tho Princess Theatre last evening, the comedy o£ "The Wonder," and tho burlesque of "Paria" were repeated. A good programme, however, is annonnced for this evening, Tne performances commence with the comedy of " Leap Year," and tho burlesque of "Paria" will follow. Tho burlesque is about to be withdrawn from the stago, and thoao who have not yet seen it would do well not to lose the opportunity.

The General Road Board met yesterday. The members present wero—His Honor the Superintendent (Mr Macmdrew), Mr Duncan, and Mr M'Dennid. The business was comparatively unimportant, as it is during the present month that the meetings of the District Boards arc held. A proposed deviation of the road through Sections 24, 85, and 87, Block G, North Harbor and Blueskin, waa approved of.—Tho Sandymount Board asked for tho survey of a road through Section 29, Block 3, Otego Peninsula, ono of the sections proposed to be sold under tho Education Reserves Abandonment Ordinance, 18G8. The survey of the road was aireed to, and referred to tho Secretary for Land and Works.—A; deputation from Broad Bay waited upon the Board, wifh referenca to road lines, and compensation to T>e paid to Messrs J. Anderson and J. Nyphon. It was stated that; there arc altogether 19 quail, and it was suggested that while the majority should bo liberated, one or two piirs should bo kept ia confinement by Mr Shaw. Mr Carrick stated that he had written to tho gentlemen from whom tho quail bad been received, asking them to forward noiuo seeds of the coniferous trees indigenous to California.
