The M. A. and N.Z. Co's s.s. Gothenburg arrived in port from Melbourne via Bluff Harbor, at an early hour yesterday morning. Her mails were conveyed to Duaedin by the eight o'clock trip of tho steamer Peninsula. She left Hobson s Bay at 6.30 p.m. on the 2(>th ult; passed through Port Philip Heads at 9 p.m ; Swan Island was paased st 7.15 p.m. on tho following day. Light winds and iine weather wero experienced during tho first part of the pissago, and strong westerly winds tho latter part. The Solander was mado at 0.30 a.m. on the 3lst, nnd Bluff Harbor reached at 11 a.m. f-he thus made a splendid passage, allowing for difference of time, of a littlo over four and a half days. At tho Bluff she discharged cargo, and sailed nt 4 p.m. same day, and arrived off the Heads at 4 a.m., and steamed up to Port Chalmers at daylight. Mr Kirk, the purser, has, with his usual courtesy', aupp ied us with our regular Melbourne files. Tho skip England and barque Collingwood, from hence, arrival at Newcastle on the 22nd ult. Tho Viola, which sailed somo days previous to tho former vcbbcls from Port Chalmers, airived at Newcastle on tho '22nd.

Tho ship Niphon, 108 days out from London, arrived at tho Heads yesterday afternoon. She is consigned to Messrs Dalgety, Rattray, and Co. The B.s. Gothenburg is announced to sail at noon to-day for Melbourne via Northern and West Coast ports.
