The shipping business since tho Panama Summary on tbo 4th inst has been about the usual average. During the past fortnight tho Port Chalmers shipping, exclusive oi coasters and others that proceed direct to Dunedin from sea, were 10 arrivals and 17 departures ; tac inward tonnage being 4309, and tho outward 5709. Tho arrivals include the brig Wild Wave from the Mauritius, with sugars, on the 4th; tho three-masted schooner Rubicon from Foo-Chow-Foo, with teas, on the 9th ; and the barque Montana from Boston, with an assorted cargo of American merchandise, on the 15th. The departures include the ship Vickaburg, one of Messrs Patrick Henderson and Co.'s line of Clyde Packets, for Newcastle, N.S.W., on the 9th ; and the brig CraigeUachic, with a cargo of tbe produce of the Province, for Guam, on the IGth. Her ultimate destination is understood to bo the Mauritius. Tho other arrivals and departures are made up of the usual Intercolonial and Inter-provincial steam and sailing vessels. The work of building th:- floating dock at Port Chabners is being pushed ahead by the proprietors, Messrs Murray and Co. All her keels are laid, and a largo portion of the floors and side timlwrs lixed. The remaining heavy timber requisite for the work is ready, in close proximity to tho Port, and only requires. favorable weather for the waggoners to bring it in ; previous to launching, she is to be sheathed with zinc. The building for the steam dredge, lately launched at Port Chalmers, is at present alongside tho Ilattrny street Jetty, Dunedin, receiving her boUcr and machinery. One vessel, the Daniel Watson, bound for Hobart Town, put back after lieing 29 days out, to replenish stores. The barque Lady Emma, 15 days out from Oamaru, bound for Ncwcnatlc, also put in, and filled up her water. Several vesbclb, bound to the westward, aro advi-ed of an lying at Port William, Stewart's Island, for shelter.
