On Monday evening, the Moray Place Social Improvement Society's first monthly lecture will be given by Mr I). F. Maui, M.P.C. Subject: "Falstaff." His Honor the Superintendent will preside. The Battery of the Artillery Regiment will parade for shot and shell practice, this afternoon, in undress uniform. Tlio various Courts of the United Otago District paid an official visit to Court Robin Hood,, Port Chalmers, on Wednesday last. "The Wonder* and the burlesque of " The Nymph of Lurleyburg," were repeated at the Princess Theatre last evening, and will be played again this evening. The Bohemian Glass Blowers, so highly spoken of in the journals of the other Provinces of the Colony, open their Exhibition on Monday, and will, no doubt, be well supported. Nothing can be more instructive and pleasing, than witnessing high attainments in arts, and especially in an art capable of producing such beautiful and varied forms as can be moulded from glass. The Exhibition will Ikj opened on Monday, at ?.3() in the evening, aud on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons at 2 o'clock. The usual weekly meeting of the Band of Hope was held last evening. Mr Morris presided. Mr Thos. H. Jennings gav3 a very lengthy aud appropriate address. The meeting closed with psalms. There were in the Gaol last evening, 99 prisoners, as follows :—9 men, and 1 woman awaiting trial; 18 men undergoing penal servitude ; 50 men, and 11 women, performing hard labor ; 3 men confined in default of bail ; and 7 debtors : making a total of 87 men and 12 women. During the week 5 men and 2 women were discharged, and S men and 5 women received. On Tuesday evening, 2Sth inst., a Tea Meeting and Amateur Concert, in aid of the Benevolent Asylum, Dunedin, was held at Waitahuna. The arrangements were ' solely under the auspices of the ladies, who, * in less than a week, carried them out in a ( most spirited and energetic manner.
