The amount of revenue received duiirg the quarter ended 30th September, was L*Sf,6s9 lis lid. Por the corresponding qua'tesr of 1864, the amount received was L4*;,438 4s, showing an increase in favor of the present year,of L 221 7s lid.

The business of the week just closed, though not markedly active, has not been ' actually dull, a few moderately good transraerions having brought the amount up to the average. Country trade for some of the diggings lotralities exhibits at the present time a considerable falling off, as much from disinclination on the pirt of the storekeepers to hold large [stocks, as from any diminution in the extent of requirements. This cannot be said of the expire trade, which (forming as it has done for some time past, the most protni neat part of our commerce) contir.ues as good as oar resources in stock will allow it to be, and with every prospect of being maintained. One arrival from Great Britain has added to oar stock of general manafac tures ; and two arrivals from Valparaiso —the Prospector and Barone-a—have very considerably increased the quantity of Chilian flour on hand. Up to the time we write no sales of either of the flour cargoes have taken place, nor hare ruling rates yet suffered any alteration. Quotations for all kinds of fl jnr therefore remain as given at the end of the previons week. Sales to some extent of medium congous have taken place at! fair rate*. The supply of fine -ongoos is at j present limited, witli hat little doing, while low qualities are T.eglected. In sugars the markst has continued active, transactions being almost exclusively in Maaritias. Privately some parcels to hand (intercolonial shipments) were placed at full rates; and by auction at Me««rs M'Landress, Hepburn and Co's on the 25th, a considerable lot of good and ordinary counters found buyers, for which, (considering that thia clas.; of sugars is in Mr supply), very fair prices were obtained. Provisions are still much wanted, the small, supply, and consequent high prices, limiting sales to the merest trade parcels. The present rates for transactions amongst second houses, none being in first hands, are so much in excess of the general prices obtained, that quotations can hardly be given for lots arriving. The demand for good butter bas no response in supply, and retailers arc puzzled to meet the wants of their customers. In hulk ales, tbe market is quite inactive, and no transactions of note can be leported, Iv bottled ales, but little better can be said. Stout in glass, has been more dealt in ; firstclass brands having been taken up freely, and the modsrate prices ruling for Byass _ and other second-clasf brands inducing j a continuance of, speculative purchases. Spirits have not been much operated in, the principal item of trade in these j»ood-i being the sale hy auction of Messrs S. S. and A I___rn_'j stock, tbe whole of which appeared to oni purchaser., the staple brands of wines and spirit, fetching about ruling prices. 2*o improvement can be recorded in tobaccos ; sales not exceeding mere requirements, and low prices ind.cmg no specula tion. In kerosene,, it was expected that improved quotations in Melbourne would have influenced better price* here, bat tucli has not yet been the case. I'» mbcellineous mana-fact-res, no changes calling for special remark have occurred.
