A Company is proposed to be formed under the above designation, vi'h Limited Liability, for t.ie purpose of affording increased faei'.ity of communication between Dunedin and the various Ports north and couth of it. It is believed, that a well organised Steam Bervice, devoted to that object, would not only prove highly remunerative as an investment of Capital, but would alto be extremely beneficial botli to the intereata of the Settlers in the Country and the Mercantile Community in Town. A large' quantity of produce is at the present time lying at the Molyneux for dtepo*a), but is quite unsaleable in consequence of the want of water carriage. During the ensuing Wool Season, both Oamaru and Timaru wi.l require additional means of transport, as it Is believed that Captains of Bri'ish ships would prefer remaining at Port Chalmers, to lying at anchor ia the. open road- ; stead of either of thcEO places, if they could be secure of having their cargoes brought to thorn at moderate rates of freight. In addition to the foregoing reasons 'for expectiog profitable and constant employment, in the trips from the outlviug ports to Dunedin, the large quantity of merchan ise exported from tbence to the Country Dtetrtets, is equally calculated to insure cargo in remunerative quantities on the outward ti ips. It is proposed that the Copitil of the Company should be £15,000, divided into SOO shares oi £50 each; that a suitable Steamer should be procured from Australia or Great B;itaij, and that in the meantime an offer, which has been made to the pnjsctors, of a Steam Vessel now in the Colony, and adapted for the purposes of the Company, should be accepted, so as to enable the Company to commence operations at once. ■ As soon at* a sufficient number of Shares is subscribed for, a Meeting will be called, Directors appointed, atsd other details arrranged. FOBM OF APPLICATION FOR SHARES. (To be leftat the Office of Boyse, Mudie and Co , ' High Street) To the Provincial Directors of tho Southern Stenra Navigation Company, (Limited.)
