A Coxcomb Punished.—Alfonso Lombardi, a celebrated sculptor of the time of Charles V., was a trrcat coxcomb. Ho g-ot punished one day by al dy of Bologna, to whom he took it into his head to make lovp in a foppish manner. She was his partner at a ball, in the midst of which he turned to her, and heavinsr a profund sif*h, said, as he looked in tho iiiee with what he thought ineilable sweetness in his eyes, and we may supprse some fantastic and writhing {gesture, " Ifit is not love I feel, pray what is it?"—" Perhaps," said the young lady, "something: bites you."
Why isn't a. Joint Stock Company like a watch ? Because it does not go after 'tis wound up.
