Sfr Hegx, Carator of the Batanifal (Ifanlpn*, showifd a wry lar^e wnd fine coileetioa of plants, including t?jo codnis deodara, Jfonvay spruce, evergreen oak, Empresbius Govenrnna, thuya lubbii, litwlulrus chiliensts, auraucaria Cookii, laurus cansphora, the InVli yew, Tntnona Gotbia conspiena, bisti meldensw, tee. Several very good specimens of the tobacco plant were exhibited, but that which gained the special prize given by Mr Simpson, George street, was a really excellent plant, ffrowii by Mr Robert Arroll, gardener to Mr T. B. Gillies. A pot of double petunias, shown by Mr Jmnes Kilgour, was much admired. Amoncj the cut flowers were some good specimens of the gladioli from the Botanic Garden?, and beautiful Japan lillies from Mr George Matthews. There was a very lanjo display of dahlias exhibited both by gardeners and amateurs, tlte best specimens of wljilch were from Messrs James Gsbbic, James Wilson, Bepre (.Botanic Gardens , Mntthewji, Law, Somncr and Co, J. T. Hart, H. Faxakerly, and 11., Heymanson. The only exhibitor of stocks was Mr James Gebbie, who showed specimens of gnpat beauty. In addition to those wo have named there was a good nvcrnf^e collcctioa of larkspur, antirrhinum*, carnations, verbenns, alters, marigolds (French and African) phloxes, Kineis, hollyhocks, to. Jn »;Ibw 3 (fruit) the only exhibitor of grapes was Mr J. Bhuidtu, who showed one bunch of very pood (junjjty, g;rown on the DunsUtn. There were several lot* of peaches, all of very fine quality, the heaviest of wljlch wrrro pjoivn by Mr Jumt-H Fulton of West Tainri. TJie other exhibitors were Mr Paterwoii, Mr Ttius. Kedninyne, Mr James <Jebhic, and Mr W. Bromley, Rtirdener to Mr 11. H. Forman. The bast collection of apples was that shown by Mr Alexander Todd of the East TaFeri, who had no fewer than cyht dUbea «f ditfiirenfe vanetti-ti.
