HHENDERS are require! by the Provincial X Government of Canterbury, for the performance of the undermentioned service :— A Steamer to ply fortnightly between Lyttelton and Dunerlin, ca ling fach way (weather permitting) at Akaroa and Timaru. 'l'o leave lyttelton, on the day of \lepanure for each ttip. not later than 12 o'clock noon. To carry Local and Australian mails free. Tenders for the above service to state what additional sum will be requiieifor the steamer to call each way at Pigeon Bay ; also, the maximum rate of freight at which passengers and goods will be carried. The Contract to commence on the Ist January, 1865, and to be in force for Due \ eai; to be terminable, however, within that period by three months' notice on either side, a penalty of £20 will be exacted in addition to the forfeiture of the subsidy lor every breach of the contract. No penalties will be enforced where a breach of the contract has been caustd by circumstances wh:ch can be proved to the satisfaction 6f the Provincial Government to have bteu beyond the control of the contractor.
