The Ethel left on the 17th, and had indifferent weather. The brig Jane, with a cargo of produce from Hofeart Town, arrived off the Heads on Satur-* day. She ssiled on the Ist irist., with fine weather, first from S.S.E., and then westerly. She made the Solander at-2 am. on Friday last. On her passage up, the Jane left Dunedin on 29th July, and arrived on 22nd August, but had been two days reaching the harbor. Capt. Shimmins reports that for four days after leaving Dunedin he was detained by light easterly weather, but on the 3rd instant strong WH.W. weather came on, and he was obliged to come to an anchor in Port William. On the 15th be saw the brig Lady Dennison, and on the 5tH the brigs Daniel Watson and Dart came to an anchor in Port William,, the.weather bring at the time extremely thick. The Daniel Watson left that port again for Lyttelton on the 6tb, and the Jane left on the Bth in company with the Dart, for Invercareill, the wind at the time being South. On the 15th, the Jane experienced a very ieavy gale and was hove-to for 24 hours, and on the Thursday following a terrific gale commenced, and the vessel was hove-ta under bare poles for a considerable time, being then 150 miles S.E. of the Pillar.
