(MR W. D. BARNARD'S REPORT.)

The horse market during the past month has been largely supplied and still remains^ glutted with almost all classes of horses, there being yet a great number on hand, owners being reluctantto transact business at present rates. Inferior horses are still very unsaleable, but there is a moderate demand for first class upstaging weight-carrying hacks and light harness horses. The majority of horses now offering are overland arrivals from the Otago province, a considerable number of which have been disposed of by public auction. There is little change in prices to report this month, ft 3 the following quotations will show : — First class heavy draught horses, from L65 to L 8 0; medium do, from L35 to LSO; inferior do, from L 22 10s L3110s; first class hacks and light harness horses (market bare) may be quoted from L3sto L 4 5; medium do and upeful hacks, from L2sto L 35; inferior do, from LlO to LlB.

Cattle.—There are few transactions to report, sales have been chiefly confined t" milch cows, which are still in great demand, and high prices obtained. First class milch cows, from L2O to L3O; medium do, from Ll2 to LlB,

MARLBOROUGH. The " Haveloek Mail," of the Bth instant, reporta:—

Trade in Havelock for the last few days has been very quiet and though there are afew upcountry buyers ir> town, they are not willing to give the prices asked. Flour may be quoted at from L3B to L4O per ton, which in a great measure, will account for the rise in the price of bread lately made, although it is generally understood that holders are keeping back so as to realise a better price than they have hitherto been doing, some considering that that article is plentiful, while others state it is not to be had at any price. Other articles of produce may be quoted at the same price as before.
