MR. MOSS ON PRIVILEGE. (To the Editor of the Daily Times.)
Dear.Sir—Mr Moss in his letter to-day, has so flatly contradictad me, that I feel constrained to iterate most positively, that it was owing to some one having; told me, in the refreshment room, that Mr Mosa mentioned the appoiatmenfc was made, that I put the question in the Council ; and that it was after the debate that Mr Moss made the remarks, which I mentioned in the Council in his presence, and repeated in my note — ai>d wuich he now denies. The remarks particularly impressed me at the time, because they were evidently uttered in deep annoyance and irritation. I have no recollection of conversing with Mr Moss on the subject in the refreshment room, before I put the question to the Government; nnd what occurred afterwards, was, as I have before said in the House. My conviction on the subject is so assured, that no amount of contradiction on Mr Moss's part, would in the least shake mo. At the same time, I am willing to believe that he is only misraken in his impression of what took place.
I cannot help smiling at Mr Moss's in.-iauationa against my veracity. They are so fuuny from one whose 10-s of office should constantly remind him of the repeated occasions on whicti it fellto my lot to expose his misrepresentations and misstatements in the Council. They are, moreover, inexpressibly ludicrous, from one who endeavoreJ to tax the credulity of honorable members to the extent of believing that he wa* not a disappointed aspirant for the appointment about wuicii so much has been said.
Faithfully yours, Julius Voamii.
