Mr BURNS presented a petition, signed by 3S electors in the Saddle Hill District, praying for the opening up of Main Roads througli the district, and that the whole mattnr of Roads be taken out of the hands of Trustees, and put into the- hands of the* Government. -.;■■•: The petition was received. :. NOTICES OF MOTION. Mr H4RD\f-To move at the next meeting, for a return of all the officers in the Provincial Establish-ments-their past, present, end/ proposed salaries, together with the date of appointment.

Mr PINKERTON-To move at the next sitting for a return of the amount of land already proclaimed into Hundreds in the Province of Otago ; the amount of land sold within those Hundreds ; the amount of land unsold, &c. ; the amount of land held under pastoral licenses ; the date of expiry of the first existing license ; the amount of land for <vhieh the licenses expire during each year, for the next succeeding ten years; the acreage of proclaimed Gold Fields, for which the pastoral licenses are suspended -the acreage of proclaimed Gold Fields for which the pastoral licenses are not suspended.

Mr BURNS-To move on Monday for an address to his Honor the Superintendent, that he be requested to lay upon the table the following returns as early as possible-.-Road from Saddle Hill to West Taieri—lst, The amount of compensator given for land. and. the names of the receivers. 2nd The cost of forming- the road. (1.) By contract; (2.) by day labor. 3rd, The cost of metalling. (1 ) By contract, whether for the whole or part of the work, including quarrying stone; (2.) by day labor of both men and carts. 4th, The amount paid to any contractors over and above the amount of contract for either forming the road, metalling, or carting of metal, and the reason for such sum being paid. sth The cause of the obstruction at Mr Turnbull's property, and the reasons for said obstruction not being cleared away, and the road proceeded with before this time.—The Road from Dunedin to the Taieri Ferry. Ist, The amount paid for the last coat of metal laid on. 2nd, A, copy of the specifications for said work. 3rd, A copy of contract, if any, for guch work. 4th, The cause of the delay in the construction of the bridge at the Lower Taieri Perry sth, The amount of contract for said bridge, and the amount paid contractor.

Mr DICK—To move at the next sitting, that a respectful address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent praying that he will cause to be laid on the table a return showing the quantity of land wi;hin Hundreds surveyed but not sold; the estimated quantity unsurvayed; and also a statement of the probable quantity that will be surveyed during the ensuing-twelve months.

Mr STEVENSON—To move, at the next sitting, that a Select Committee be appointed to take into consideration the best means for establishing a Savings Bank within the City of Dunedin, aud to report on luesday next: said Commit lee to consist of Messrs Luck, Morris, Steole, Dewe, and the Mover. The motion standing- in the name of Mr Burns, at the head of the paper, was postponed until tfiat of Mr Gillies was before the Hove.

Captain BALDWIN1" allowed his rotice as to correspondence relating to the removal of Messrs Wood aud Duncan, from the Waka'ipu Gold Field to lapse. He would bring it forward on a future occasion.
